Description:1968 Mattels man in space, Majot Matt Mason friend from Jupitor, Callisto. He is mint on the card, the card is in good shape, does have some waves to it and some corner damage but the bubble is crystal clear. Never removed from the package, still all original and unopened.

Q: Hi, Are there any cracks or splits in the clear plastic bubble over the figure?
A: The bubble is crystal clear with no damage, no cracks or discoloration. It is coming away from the card at the point where the card is warped. which is by the space pictures of Callisto.

My Take:
It's been a while since a nice carded Callisto has appeared on eBay - the auction results reflect on that as the carded Callisto is not at all uncommon (it was the first carded figure I purchased many years ago in attempting to build my collection). Lot's of good, detailed images in this auction which probably upped the activity a bit.

Description:Description : This is Matt Mason's Firebolt Space Lazer Rosebud/United Kingdom version still with it's original Rosebud registration/warranty card that is in excellent condition. The box of the space lazer itself states in small print on one side "1967 Mattel Inc./Printed in England". Rosebud was the UK marketing arm for Mattel Inc. Toymarkers. There is no real variation in the space cannon/lazer itself from the American version. Only printing/logo was changed on the box such as cannon to lazer from the American box as well as the instructions.

Condition : While the space lazer is used as it has all of it's original decals afixed to the cannon it is in excellent running condition and all decals look very good. It comes with it's original directions and decal sheet. It has it's original box and all the inserts as shown. The box is in C-8 condition with no crush spots, writing or tears on the box. The graphics are bright and crisp in color and detail as is the writing. It also comes with it's radar antenna which is also in excellent condition as well. A must have for the serious matt mason collector. Check out my other matt mason item's I have for auction as well.

If I weren't so broke this boxed set would have been mine as it's one of the foreign boxes I'm missing. About as close to OSS as you can get and it wouldn't take much to make it so if desired.

Description:Description : This is Matt Mason's Rocket Launch Pak in mint condition, Stock # 6305. Bubble is completely adhering to the card with no cracks or crush marks. All contents which include racket launch pad, rocket, lazer gun, knife with sheath and belt as well as wakie talkers and decal sheet are all in mint condition. The card has a slight bow in it towards the bottom but all graphics are bright in color and crisp to the eye. The hole punch to hang the card is still present. ~~Description: We are so pleased to be offering this wonderful vintage 1967 Mattel issued Captain Lazer Superhuman Space Figure in box that remains in beautiful, factory sealed condition!! Capt. Lazer was one of Matt Mason's friends from outer space that was released by Mattel in 1967, the toy is completely and originally factory sealed so the figure remains in beautiful, bright condition, plus the box is in great shape as well! MAKE SURE YOU READ THE ENTIRE LISTING AND RELATED INFO! The toy is listed with Stock No. 6330, Capt. Lazer is known to have super human powers, he has lazer sound and lazer beams, also flashing eye beams, blazing solar reactor and more! The back of the box has the info on how to operated the space figure, and he is run on two pen-light batteries that are not included.

~~The figure has never been removed from the box as the plastic shrink wrap remains in excellent overall condition, the figure still has the original rubber band around his head and helme, the back pack area still has the band around it keeping it intact with the back of the box, there is still one rubber band around one foot that is intact, looks like the other band let go, the paper booklet is in great shape, and the accessory bag is still stapled to the upper, inside panel of the box! Just so many things that are so fine and in great condition, including the beautiful, true colors of the figure and parts around him!! No fading or signs of any discoloring at all! Looks like figure would be around 12" tall give or take a bit.

~~The box structure remains in great shape with only very minor bumps along the edges, but no holes or issues that way at all, the front part with the neat space scene is also in great shape with beautiful colors, and the blue color on the panels remains true as well! Box measures 14.5" tall by 9.75" wide and 5" front to back. The shrink wrap remains tight and intact very well, there is only one small area that has a piece of tape on it to keep a small crack from getting larger, that being at the very top, left corner on the front, more so on the top, you have to look closely to see it or feel it, there is some remains from part of it on the front that has no hole or crack by it, might have been another price tag somewhere along the line, but did not attempt to remove it.

~~There are a few normal stretch or seam gaps that are so minor, has a few small holes on one side that are nothing close to being an issue, the top, front, back and right side are free of holes or gaps, bottom panel has one spot at the seam that shows a small opening, just normal stuff that might have been the way it was issued. The front shows a number of tiny impressions or dents on the plastic that are nothing close to being bad, again, no holes or cuts on the front, and the plastic is clean as well. Has what is probably the original price tag on the top, but has been crossed out. Has minor wear along the edges from being set or layed on those areas, still such minor stuff that is hardly worth mentioning.

~~There are so many grand features to this cool Captain Lazer figure that have been well cared for all these years, and the quality of the colors for the figure and box are also so neat for something 44 years old! Loaded with super quality and display, and believe you will like the item well if you are the winning bidder!!

My Take:
I'm bothered by the lack of the accessory blister card (the gun-attachments are in a plastic bag instead of on a blister) - I believe that this box has been resealed, and apparently that also affected the ending bid price as it should have sold for about double (if not more). I inquired with the current seller regarding the accessories ad was told that this was a "variation." I just don't think it's very difficult to reseal a box with shrinkwrap (granted this is the heavier shrinkwrap similar to what Mattel used, but who's to say the same isn't still available?). Just my opinion though - I'll leave it up to those reading...

These chip boxes do seem to be very hard to acquire - I know it took many years to find the Supernaut Power Limbs for my own collection. I've owned a couple of these Space Power Suite chip boxes - the most common seems to be the Gamma Ray Gard...

Up for bid: Mattel's Major Matt Mason FIREBOLT SPACE CANNON Original Store Stock. Everything is present. For those who are trying to build a complete Matt Mason collection, you'll be hard pressed to find a Firebolt Cannon in this condition, boxed and with the insert. Box is in great condition with very minor shelf wear. There are a few dings on the box, but nothing major. The insert is in excellent condition, as are the instructions and decal sheet. The cannon is in super fine condition. The antenna is perfect. As with most Matt Mason cannons, the glue on the joints in some areas has yellowed a bit. This is natural, occurring with its age. I have seen a lot of these, and this one is among the best. It will NOT need to be upgraded. It has been tested, and it does run like new.

It is truly a great piece from my personal collection. I've decided to thin the collection down, keeping only what I had as a kid.

My Take:
Nice OSS boxed vehicle - in past months it would have sold for a little less - it looks like sales are picking up a bit. This is another Toby Denham collection item and sales have been strong for his collection. This time the box label is right-side up, unusual in a box where the label is very commonly upside down (same with the Talking Command Console).

Up for bid: Mattel's Major Matt Mason STAR SEEKER Near Mint in Box, complete with planets and instructions. Capsule is bright and white with a few very minute ding marks. The clear blue canopy is absolutely beautiful!!! The decals are installed and some lifting on the corners is occurring, not bad, though. All of the programming pins are solid and intact, no breakage! The capsule does run and does what it's suppose to do. The instructions are present to show you how to operate. The box is in excellent condition, very crisp. All of the top tabs are intact, and lock the top down. The colors are bright. As for the box inserts, tell me the last time you saw a Star Seeker box that had them. They are rare! The inserts with this one are solid. The bottom one has some damage which looks like it could've been done by battery leakage. HOWEVER, the bottom insert did not go with this Star Seeker originally. I got it from another box. There HAS NEVER been battery leakage in this capsule. The battery compartment is in excellent condition. Overall, this Star Seeker is in very hard to fine condition.

It is truly a great piece from my personal collection. I've decided to thin the collection down, keeping only what I had as a kid.

Major Matt Mason SPACE CRAWLER Near Mint

Up for bid: Mattel's Major Matt Mason SPACE CRAWLER in excellent or near mint condition. This crawler is in its original box with the original insert. If this crawler was with a full uninstalled decal sheet still stapled to the instruction sheet, it could pass for Original Store Stock (OSS). However, some of the decals were installed. The seat decals appeared to have never been installed and are missing. If they are desired, good reproduction crawler decals are available on eBay. Overall, this crawler has been handled very little. The battery box is very nice. The feet on the crawler spokes look like new. The body of the crawler also looks new. It runs like a champ, very strong! The winch works perfectly. The only real flaw is a slightly split hub cap, which can be seen in posted photo. It is very minor and is does not mean the hub retainer is damaged. If you are not very familiar with the crawlers, cracked hub caps are pretty common, even on store stock examples. I have owned a half of dozen crawlers, and I've only had one that had the hubs that were perfect. I believe cracked hubs resulted from when they were installed at the factory (being tapped into place).

The box is very crisp and has light shelf wear. The insert is in excellent condition. The instruction sheet is present and included. The tear seen in the photo is where the stapled decal sheet was pulled away long ago. The crawler itself is beautiful! Nice example of a great toy.

I'm not sure why, but for some reason OSS crawlers are fairly difficult to find - I think that as such an iconic toy most if not all got played with, so there just aren't that many unplayed-with examples. Another Toby Denham collection item, this one has just a tiny bit of wear but does come with the rare insert.

My Take:
I don't think most collectors realize how rare an intact or mostly intact Space Ship Case is to find in the wild. This is a very fine example, even with the cracked thruster and I'm surprised it didn't sell for more. Up for bid: Mattel's Major Matt Mason FLIGHT PAK Mint on an Unpunched Card. No serious Matt Mason collection would ever be without this item. All contents are dead mint. The card has the usual curling on the corners, particularly the bottom corners, nothing major. The card has very little shelf wear. The graphics are bright and sharp. There is a extremely small split in the clear blister. It is virtually unnoticeable. As a matter of fact, I didn't know it was there until a few years ago, when while handling it, I felt it. Nevertheless, you'll be hard pressed to find this item in this great of condition.
It is truly a great piece from my personal collection. I was very reluctant to sell this, but I have decided to narrow my Matt collection down to only those loose items I had as a kid.

My Take:
If I didn't already have several examples, I probably would have bought this one myself. I think in a private sale it would have sold for a bit more ($700-750) - it's not an uncommon carded toy, however this one is in exceptional condition. Another Toby Denham collection item.

It looks like the package was opened and the figure put back in and never played with. There are no broken wires and the colors are nice and bright. The package has been opened and is ripped in the back and has some bubble bends but still looks good and displays well in the package. The helmet is in Mint condition also, it would be hard to upgrade this figure unless it was in a sealed package. My Take:
Rather surprised and the winning bid on this carded Matt. It is a very nice example - it could be the detailed photos sold this auction. The staples in the card indicate it was probably pulled from a boxed set (I have one similar from a Firebolt Super Action Set).

I am getting many questions on Sgt. Storm and his condition. Look closely at the pictures. The plastic is perfect. There are no cracks, no holes, no smells. There is one spot at the top of the packaging where the Letters R and M from Sgt. Storm are. where there was once a label, but it has been removed. I started this auction at $9.99 so everyone would have a fair chance at buying it. This is collector grade, for collectors only. Triple-M is in fantastic shape. No broken wires. Solid with great paint.
Red dots, blue straps, and silver wrist and leg bands.
Perfect hair and blue eyes.
The only issue is a small loss of silver paint where the helmet joins.
Stamped on back: Mattel 1966.
An excellent MMM! Hard to believe he is 44 years old.

Callisto is in great shape with the exception of a broken wire in his left leg.
The wire doesn't poke through and you would not know it if you didn't twist the leg.
It allows the leg to twist if you try. He can stand though.
Nice colors and clean.
Stamped on back: Mattel 1968 Hong Kong.

The helmet is just OK, but not bad. It has some melts and sticker residue. The shield opens and closes fine.

The moon sled is in good shape, not perfect but nice.

All vintage, not reproduction.

This item included an ajustable launcher sitting on a ladder type assembly and flexible rubber hose attachment. This item was originally sold in Germany very rare.

My Take:
I was quite surprised at the winning bid on this one - this is probably the most ubiquitious carded MMM accessory - I've bought several for less than $20. The story is that 4 cases were found in an old toy store in Germany.

It still has the faucet at the sink, the phone and cord at the desk and the Chair. The only thing that I can see thats missing is one of the 3 silver colored wrenches that hold the desk to the base. Its in Great Condition and the flexable film graphics is excellent with no fadeing or tears. There is some wear to the chrome on the beacon which still has a old corroded Battery in it. My Take:
Another Toby Denham collection item. Considering the rarity of the MAC cap I'm always surprised that it doesn't sell for more (understand that the only way to get the cap is to first join the Mattel Astrospace Center Club, which came with a cap order-form.) - these are fairly rare, at least as rare as other MMM club items.

Up for bid: Mattel's Major Matt Mason SPACE STATION complete and in very good condition. The station is in very good played with condition. Decals are installed. I have had it assembled, and all pieces are present. The clear blue panels are some of the best I've seen. Very very few scuffs. They are nice, clear and shiny. There are two small flaws as noted in the accompanying photos. The chair back has a small melt where a MMM figure was left too long in contact causing a chemical reaction ... very common occurrence with these toys. The second flaw is one missing tab where one of the console legs attaches. This has no effect on assembly and cannot be seen. As for the box, it is solid and in good condition (grade C7.5 - C8). The colors are vivid. The closing tab is torn as seen in photo; however, it still closes and locks. The cardboard insert is a work of art!!! It is an exact reproduction of an original made on a computer controlled machine that makes cardboard boxes and packing materials. These were sold by a well known Matt Mason collector who was/is in the business of making such things. You CANNOT tell the difference between this insert and an original (except that the original will not be in as good condition.

It is truly a great piece from my personal collection. I've decided to thin the collection down, keeping only what I had as a kid.

It can hold two Major Matt Mason action figures one in front of the other. Included is a white two piece yoke. The Bubble contains a gryro-seat that can hold and additional Major Matt Mason action figure. The gyro seat kept the astronaut upright while the bubble rolled behind. This toy has been opened but looks like it was never played with. It comes complete with original box, inner packaging and decals which were never applied to toy. Battery compartment has no rust and toy has been battery test and worked great. Box is a little dinged up but this toy is in just about New Condition.

My Take:
White Rubber Major Matt Mason figures continue to pull strong bids, especially with unbroken wires. They present themselves so well and are difficult to find - this one actually sold for a little under what I would expect (I've seen them sell as high as $300 for a super nice figure). The rotojet gun is a nice touch.

My Take:
This was a big surprise and the first I've seen - notice the color of the cat trac - it should be orange/red. In toy collecting this is called an "Error Card." Otherwise there isn't much of anything special to this carded figure as the card and bubble are a bit mangled. I did have some questions regarding the authenticity as I've never seen a black strap figure with a short helmet - it caused me to back off in the bidding - combined with the incorrect colored cat track it made me wonder if the card had been resealed. Otherwise, something very cool to have in ones collection as a noticeable variant.

I really, really regretted not going after this set but frankly I was tapped-out in funds for the month, having just purchased the Gulf Carded Matt for an exorbitant sum. This is basically an OSS Space Discovery set selling for about half to one third what is should have sold for (the baggie holding Doug was stapled to the insert - you can see the staple - it wouldn't take much to make this one right, especially with a clean box). My bidding finger was really itching on this one - someone got a phenomenal deal! I thing it would have gone for more if the seller has provided some detailed images.

In near MINT condition. He looks like he is brand new. Paint is beautiful bright shiney blue.
Absolutely NO broken or loose joints anywhere!

Missing a tiny bit of paint on his left upper arm. There is also a tiny fleck of something slightly grayish on his left butt cheek but it is hard to see unless you look and it should clean up, but I will let you take care of that.

There is a tiny bit of paint missing around the neck, but most of it is actually just loose and when you press it back in place in place you can't tell. Head is also in beautiful condition. I saved this one for my personal collection because it is one of the nicest I have ever seen.

My Take:
Long time MMM collector Toby Denham begins to liquidate some of his MMM collection, Toby basically decided to only keep items he owned as a kid (with a few exceptions) - I got to preview the collection and the quality is indeed exceptional - as this auction and those that follow with attest. My Take:
This is something you simply don't see very often - the vinyl MMM items are exceedingly rare. I don't believe there are more than 10 of these known in existence and most are owned by advanced collectors. This, the most common sold for just about what I would have though - the notebook at double this or more and the lunch box at $3-5K depending on condition. From the collection of Toby Denham.

My Take:
I thought about bidding on this as I still don't have one in the collection - the box condition stopped me though. I'm just not sure how rare the set is as it seems about 10 or so have come up for sale - it's certainly more common than the Sears Astro Trac Missile Convoy set. Note that this was only available via Simpson Sears in Canada so most if not all of them come from across the border. I don't believe a pristine one exists so it would be interesting to see what the inserts are like.

My Take:
Toby's Jeff Long is one of the better I've seen on eBay in a while and the winning bid certainly reflects that fact. I think that if the bubble was a bit better and in a bit stronger market it would have gone for quite a bit more. From the collection of Mr Denham.

Item Condition: 1) The mask is in near pristine condition. There is no soiling and the colors are bright. The rubber band that goes around the head has long since disintegrated. Can easily be replaced if you wish to do so. 2) The suit is also in good condition. It is showing some slight discoloration due to age, but it's minimal. The graphics look great. 3) The box is in pretty decent condition for its age. There is some slight creasing and the clear cellophane in the box "window" has degraded due to age. It's still present, just split. This is typical of all of the ones I've seen. The item still displays extremely well. 4) The extra box is in about the same condition as the first. Having 2 boxes makes for a good display. The mask can be displayed in one and the uniform in the other. That's the way I had it displayed.

This auction is for a RARE BARBIE/MATT MASON FUNNY FACE DRINK COUNTER STORE DISPLAY made up of a 25"x13 1/4" printed cardboard sheet with an actual carded Matt Mason doll and boxed Barbie doll glued to it. The top of the display has the characters touting the contest while the bottom has a space to put a tear off pad. There are two small holes at the top where it could be hung from in the grocery store. It is from 1967.

There is only one known display and it's this one! You won't find it anywhere else and you will NOT be disappointed! My Take:
I usually only post items that actually sell on eBay - in this case, the auction ran twice (the previous in August - same info and of course it was relisted as it didn't sell) and I'm showing only due to the rarity of the item. This seller is what I call an "eBay Dreamer" - someone who has something that in his/her eyes is worth more than gold. The prices asked for are rather ridiculous - also some of the statements made regarding the item are false - there are actually about a handful of these going around (I know of the sale of 3 or 4 - one rather recent). I can see this going for the $5-10K price range but no where near the asked for price.

Here's a 44 year old, classic Major Matt Mason Space Station Toy Set manufactured way back in 1966.

As you can see from the photo-images above, the set is in extraordinary condition overall. And appears to have never been played with or assembled. However, there may be a few factory marks from where the pieces shifted in the box during transport to a toy store. But we are condition minded collectors, and know the winning bidder will be very pleased.

The box is in exceptional condition, as you can also see from the photos. Some natural aging, transport and shelf wear, but overall a very fine example. Note, one interior lid-tab has come loose, but is still present on the open lid of the box.

All parts are accounted for. The instructions / detailed parts / decals are still sealed in their original factory bag, which is extremely difficult to come across.

First time we've offered this item for sale, including at auction on eBay.

My Take:
This is one of those boxed sets that will always retain its value - I am surprised it sold so cheap - typically OSS stations sell in the $500+ range. Of course the box isn't perfect and appears to be missing the insert and paperwork - but those aren't impossible to find. I think someone got a good deal here.

These continue to be some of the rarer and more desirable MOC examples to collectors. If the helmet had been better positioned on the figure (not to mention the kinked leg) I wouldn't be surprised to see this example exceed $1000. As it is, a good solid example for the collection.

My Take:
I think this is actually a better set than the one that sold previously in July with the sticker sheet intact. The Canadian box in the earlier auction was prettier, however, as the cardboard used was white faced and holds up better to the elements (US boxes reveal the acids in the paper as a darkening you don't see in the Canadian boxes).

My Take:
I think the average Doug Cat Trac cards have firmly planted themselves in the $250 range. I think that for most MMM collectors he's just not as desirable - I'm not sure if that's because many did not own him as a kid or if there is an abundance of DD cards on the market (there does appear to be al ot of them). This large 12 inch doll is a hong kong rip of the famous major matt mason toy , it was only removed from box for photo , i presume from the early 70s and the trade name redbox is on the box , check out the other space items i am selling , all from my own collection

My Take:
Apparently there are still people who want this knock-off. I never thought he was anything special - this is the variant with the sewn stripes (I have one loose) - there's also versions with printed suits and some have yellow helmets (and potentially yellow sleds). The figure comes with various names but usually some variation of "Astronaut" and in both 8 and 12 inches in height. Think of it as a cross between an MMM figure and a GI Joe Astronaut (the head sculpt appears to be a GI Joe). The instructions on the back are right from an MMM flight card, with some modifications. I think most of these made it to Mexico, South America and Europe - they don't seem to be common in the US.

My Take:
All of these "Deluxe" cards are rare and super desirable in any condition, as evident in the winning bid. I think pristine examples should still sell in the $2000-2500 range. It's especially rare to find a Moon Suit card with arms that havent disintegrated (these may be hard but they still look good).

The figure has been removed from the card and the plastic is attached to the cardboard on one side only. There is a tear in the plastic on the upper left corner and the carboard shows some yellowing.

My Take:
This certainly would have sold for a bit more under better economic circumstances - what killed this one were the images with the figure out of the package. Not a terribly uncommon card, in a bit better condition I would expect it to sell more in the $200+ range.

My Take:
I always like finding this box with the label right-side up - this is one of those boxes that usually is found with the label upside down (the image is split on the large surface with the corner seam). Not a bad set, but still less than what I would have expected to pay.

My Take:
The most interesting thing about this set is the short description and the fact that the images were scabbed of of Keith Meyer's MMM website. There was a bit of speculation regarding whether the entire auction was faked or what. To date no one has come forward and admitted to buying the figure. The problem with using someone else's images (besides the issues with copyright infringement) have to do with misrepresenting the item. I think this auction could have gone for a lot more if the seller had used actual photos as if the item was in this condition there would have been more competitive bidding.

My Take:

This was the most interesting auction for May and June - interestingly, this is the third I've seen in this state. It is indeed rare, however if you don't have the MMM XRG-1 Set with a missing figure, I'm not sure what its real value is? Apparently there are enough people who covet it to set a price of nearly $900! The last one sold for around $320 if memory serves. I've been told by more than one ex-Mattel employee from the era that often blisters like these would be offered at the Mattel factory store - that may be why there are still some of these and other blistered figures that would normally be found in sets - to be found these days in auctions. It does explain why these pop-up.

Rare 1968 Major Matt Mason Talking Command Console

Up for auction we have a 1968 Mattel Major Matt Mason Talking Command Console with box and 3 astronauts. The talker does not work when the string is pulled it turns but will not talk. The console is in over all good condition maybe a bit if dirt and staining and a bit of rust on the rivets but no tears of the vinyl. There are a few places where the plastic of the consoles & seats and the plastic of the astronauts have stuck together. I count about a dozen small spots. The 2 plastics react with one another when they are in contact for a long period. The battery holder does have a small amout of corosion on it, it is not bad but it is there. I did notice 1 of the light bulbs in the console is missing. The box is a bit faded, stained and has some bug damage. Over all this is a nice display piece. Thanks for looking.

My Take
I was sorely tempted to bidding on this one myself. What stopped me was the melts in the seats and the upside-down sticker on the box. I've seen many of these boxes and only a handful with the image rightside up. Considering the three figures whoever won this auction got a steal - but the big bonus here is the hangtag - I've only seen a handful of these so I believe they're very rare.

My Take
This one went for a bit less that what I expected - it may have been timing or the economy in general or it may have been the box condition. I've never understood why anyone would be hesitant to bid on bad boxes since in most cases the contents can be swapped for a better box. For some reason OSS crawlers are rather scarce.

Description
Mattel launched the Matt Mason Man in Space series as the first non-violent (toy) exploratory mission. All equipment was used for exploration rather than as weapons. Even the aliens were extra-friendly. And like Barbie, each figure and accessory was sold separately with the exception of the Deluxe Space Station.

I purchased this Sgt. Storm, Matt Mason's Space Buddy posable figure from the original owner. It's still factory sealed on its original bubble-card and has been stored since new. It includes Sgt. Storm in flexible space suit with helmet and Lunar Trac vehicle. The toy is sealed on its original card with its original transparent plastic bubble. It's never been resealed or played with. The card remains unpunched (hang tag circle still in place).

Size: With card 8¼" x 5" x 2½". Condition: Toy is in mint condition without any discoloration, fading or deformation. The bubble is near mint without any yellowing, cracking, chips, scratches, breaks in the seal, crushing, or scuffs. The paint on the Man in Space logo on the front of the bubble is 100% complete. The condition issues which keep it from grading higher are all due to age shrinkage. Namely, the roof section was drawn inwards slightly. This caused a shallow horizontal bow close to the card. However, the seal was not compromised and the bubble did not crack. The bowing also created a faint dent on the upper right rear corner edge and another, sharper, on the front left corner. Both are located on the top roof section. The rest of the bubble including the sides, bottom, and the complete front are in mint condition.

The card is also in fantastic near mint condition. Colors are strong throughout although the rear right and rear lower edges show light scuffing. All four corners have a faint upwards curl (from the front). The card front has two small creases; one in the upper left corner and a second passing diagonally over the unpunched hole. The upper right front corner also has three or four tiny edge nicks. In addition to the scuffing already mentioned, the back side of the card has a faint corner crease in the upper left corner and also vertically near the lower left edge about 1" up from the bottom.

Incredible condition for a toy produced 10 years before Star Wars.

Package is in superb condition. The art is bright like new and the card is crisp and straight, it even still has the hangar punch hole still intact. But of course nothing is perfect...the corners have small dents, barely noticeable, and there is a inventory sticker from a previous owner that I chose not to attempt to remove. I bought it about 20 years ago and it has been proudy displayed in a smoke free home.

My Take
Nice card here and still maintaining a fair value - 10 years ago this card would have sold for $250 - but that was right at the beginning of the MMM collecting frenzy. A more reasonable median price is around $150.

MATT MASON'S "RECONOJET PAK" Mint in package.

Package is in good condition. The card is a little bit bent and the bottom corners have small dents, barely noticeable, there is a inventory sticker from a previous owner that I chose not to attempt to remove. It even still has the hangar punch hole still intact. I bought it about 20 years ago and it has been proudy displayed in a smoke free home.

My Take
I would have expected this one to go for more as it's rather uncommon - another sign of our recession, I'm guessing.

Here is a one of a kind space suit for Major Matt Mason! I made this for a Halloween costume a few years ago. It's a full size Major Matt Mason space suit! Here is what you get...

Full size helmet (made of paper mache, but very substantial)
Helmet colar (made of wood)
One pair of black rubber gloves
One pair of knee pouches (made from foam)
Matt Mason mask (made from a picture of the figure and mounted on styrene)
Three small space suit blocks (see photo with gloves and mask)
One length of rubber hose for joints (uncut)

The costume is not the most comfortable to wear, but it sure got some great reactions! All you need to complete the suit is a pair of black boots, some tape, and a white jumpsuit. The helmet is made of paper mache with about a 3/4" to 1" wall thickness, so it is very durable. The visor is made of lexan and dose open just like the action figure. I'm adding a length of rubber hose for the joints, but because it arrived too late for Halloween, I did not get to use it. The joints in the pictures were done with black tape. The knee packs and other blocks are painted foam and were attached to the suit with double sided tape. When you get the whole thing is put together, it's really a head turner! This ships in a big box, 20"x20"x20", that is why the postage is so high. Have Fun! PayPal Only.

A: Sure. It's actually two pieces of clear lexan that I laser cut. The outside cuts are the same on both pieces. One of the pieces was spray painted silver and has an oval shape cut out of the center. The other was airbrushed with an amber color tint from Germany. The two pieces were then heat formed over a buck to get that curved shape. The two pieces were glued together with Weldon. Then I mounted them on the helmet so they pivot on the two posts. It has actually worked very well. Good luck with yours!

I was sorely tempted to bid on this auction as well - I thought it would have gone for quite a bit more had it not been for the $72 in shipping.

A: One Calipso has a bad left arm, the MMM missing a lot of paint has a broken wire at 1 knee inside. I did get the battery lid off the red vehicle and it does work.

A: Crawler works. Winch works. I'll try to post the pic. Moon tractor works, red vehicle, can't get the battery lid off for fear of breaking it. It should work.

Description: Major Matt Mason Astro Trac Gift Set. Stock # 8178 part of Mattel's Men in Space Toy Line. This is the rare and seldom seen Astro Trac Gift Set which was only sold through the Sears outlet stores in Canada and was not issued in the United States. It included an Astro Trac, Mobile Launch Pad, Satellite Launch Pak and a Matt Mason and Sgt. Storm Figure.
Condition: The box is in very good condition with clear images of Matt Mason and Sgt. Strom on the Astro Trac and Satellite Launcher. The insert flap is intact and there are no tears, writing or crunch marks in box. There are 4 small holes with 2 on each side of the box only. The Astro Trac is very clean and completely in tact with all it's decals and is in working order (it does squeak a little when in motion but moves very well). It also has retro fitted foam tires. The Mobile Launch Pad is excellent, minty white with no melt marks and attaches to Astro Trac with no problems. The Satellite Launch Pak is also completely in tact with no melt marks and fully functional. It comes complete with all four Satellite disks in white, yellow, blue and green with decals. Finally, the Matt Mason figure is in very good condition and is the first issue type figure with red dots on his arms and legs. There are no broken wires and only a small bit of paint missing along the edges of his neck from his helmet. Sgt. Storm is also in very good condition, with no broken wires and he only has dot of paint missing on his back and one edge of his collar. The figures also come with there helmets which are in good condition as well.

I was sorely tempted by this auction - I don't own one myself and this was a particularly great example. Fairly hard to come by, this Simpson-Sears exclusive was only found in Canada - the winning bid certainly establishes a fair market value for the set.

My Take
I'm not sure why but Storm seems to be a bit harder to come by than the other members of the Space Mission Team. While the card and bubble aren't perfect, I think that this one sold at a bargain price.

Rare 1968 Major Matt Mason Talking Command Console

Here we have this Rare1968 Major Matt Mason Talking Command Console. This is quite a treasure to find! Although one of the chairs are snipped it does not subtract away from the great appeal of this item. Any collector would be excited for this piece. The outside vinyl casing is in excellent condition with no splitting or tearing of any kind. It has a very new like look to it, the picture on the back has no discoloration or paint chips. The battery compartment is very clean. There is no corrosion, or rust of any sort in, on or around it that I can tell. There is light splitting and breakage on a rivot in the inside corner of the command center area in the console. When you pull the pull cord it only retracts and something inside spins, there is no talking. On the control panel there is a decal coming loose and is slightly torn. This console measures about 12.5" x 8.5" x 4.5". The handle on this console case is in perfect condition. The front reads, 1968 Mattel Inc. Printed in USA. The box of this item reads Stock No. 5157. Astronauts NOT Included. 1968 Mattel, Inc., Made in USA. Patent in USA, Patent in Canada, 1962. Other Patents Pending. Mattel Toy Makers The box of this command console is also in excellent condition. There is some very light edge wear on one edge, and a corner is crinkled. But this box really is in exquisite condition for its age. It measures about 13" x 9" x 5". The rarity of these items is absolute. Although the description of the damage sounds severe it is mostly mild and has very little to no impact on how ravishing its appeal. The photos show this item and its condition, but if you have any questions please feel free to ask. My Take
It wasn't too long ago when these sold for $150-200 in the box like this - seems it may not be as desirable as it once was. This one has the label right-side-up on the box - something rather rare for this particular box, for some reason - an added boon for the winner! This auction featured some of the best photography of any I've seen of late - you get to know exactly what's being bid one with all the wonderful images.

Major Matt Mason Space Mission Team, mint in box condition. Stock # 6337 part of Mattel's Men in Space Toy Line. This is the rare and seldom found Mission Team that is in mint condition. While the box has been opened on one side the contents have never been played with and are still in their original packaging. This unique set includes a Matt Mason, Sgt. Storm, Doug Davis and Callisto figure along with his sensor shoulder harness as well as one Space Sled, one red Cat Trac their decals and helmets for each astronaut.
Condition: The box is in excellent condition with clear photo images of Matt Mason standing on the lunar surface, Callisto wearing his sensor harness, Sgt. Storm skimming over the moon's surface on his space sled and Doug Davis driving his red Cat Trac. The insert flap is intact and there are no tears, writing or crunch marks in box. The Matt Mason, Sgt. Storm, Doug Davis and Callisto figures along with their helmets, sensor and decals are all in their original plastic packaging and in excellent condition. All figures have never been played with and have no paint loss. This is also true of Space Sled and Cat Trac. The set has its original instructions which are in very good condition with no tears, smudge stains or yellowing. There are only a couple of creases. There is also the original receipt present when the item was purchased. A must have set for the serious Matt Mason Collector.

My Take
Very nice set - actually I think it may have once been one of mine that I sold a few years ago (replaced it with a really crisp, minty sealed box). These are still selling strong - although it has taken a hit in recent economic times - I sold this same set (or it's twin) in the early half of the last decade for $1200.

Major Matt Mason with Cat Trac (MIB)

Major Matt Mason with Cat Trac, mint in box condition. Stock # 6318 part of Mattel's Men in Space Toy Line. This is the Matt Mason figure wearing his helmet sitting atop a red Cat Trac waving out of the square plastic window box. The artwork on the reverse side depicts Matt Mason riding along on his Cat Trac over the lunar landscape with shadowed craters and cliff's in the background. This box includes a Matt Mason figure, his helmet and one red Cat Trac.
Condition: The box is in good condition with the plastic square bubble completely adhering to the cardboard backing, the back of the box has mild yellowing. The top seam of the plastic window is slightly dented which causes the top to buckle up a little and there is a faded/cleaned 1.00 written in black marker on top of plastic bubble. The Matt Mason is the blue strapped early figure and is in mint condition with no paint loss however the helmet visor has come off of his helmet and is stuck on his back. Neither the helmet or the visor are broken. It must have come off when originally packaged. The Cat Trac is also in mint condition.

My Take
The cat-trac carded figures seem to hover around this price - especially for the more common astronauts. This is a fairly decent example.
