Mattel #633 Greenie Stik-M-Caps

#633 Greenie Stik-M-Caps Box Front

Mattel's Greenie Stik-M-Caps were distributed by Mattel for use in western and detective cap guns from the late 50's through the mid 60's. They are included here because of their possible use in the #6305 Rocket Launch Pak and #6306 Satellite Launch Pak (they are actually referenced on the back of the carded packages).

There were two box quantity variations, one containing 120 and another containing 480 caps (see Mattel Stock #634)

There were at least two box variations, each containing 120 cap-firing, self-stick round loads for a total of two "green" sheets of 60 ct. each - the box could be found with glued packaging or box-style packaging that could be opened on the ends. A self-adhesive load could be stuck to the back of a plastic bullet and placed in a Mattel Real Shootin' Shell Pistol. For the Satellite Launcher a cap could be placed under a spring mechanism designed to fire when the string was pulled (to release the flying disc). The Rocket Launcher's cap was on the missile itself, to explode on impact.

There are also variations of Mattel's green rolled, perforated roll caps called, you guessed it, Greenie Roll Caps. These could be found in an assortment with the Stik-M-Caps in one Master Carton (Mattel #406 Greenie Cap Assortment).

John's Notes:

There was a recent find of several full cases of the 120-count Greenie Stik-M-Caps. The most remarkable thing about the find is that the caps still fire! You can still find these on eBay for less than $15 today, considerably less than the $35 - $60 they used to demand at shows 5 years ago. Well worth the price of admission to once again hear that satisfying "Bang!" as a Satellite launches!
