The Alien Zycron Outcasts - Who are they?
The Zycron Outcasts are an alien race introduced in the Publishing arm of Western Publishing (now defunct as of 2001) #1142 "Major MATT MASON - Coloring Book", published in 1968, I don't the coloring book is illustrated by comic book artist Dan Spiegle (same artist as the Big Little Book) as the rendering is a bit inferior. The book contains many images of Major Mason, Sgt. Storm and Capt Lazer. It also has images of the lunar base and various structures, the Space Station, the Astro Trac, the Space Crawler and a 6-wheeled trailer, the Recono Jet, the Firebolt Space Cannon, Accessories including the Satellite Launcher, the Rocket Launcher, the Moon Suit (with Decontamination gun), the Space Shelter, , Space Sleds, and even dogs and cats!
About 70 pages in the crew encounter the Zycron Outcasts in a cave. They have settled on the Moon as their new home. Initially Storm and Mason are captured and sentenced for destruction, but Capt. Lazer saves the day.

Western Publishing probably offered this Big Little Book for at least two years and probably had it available until the initial print run became too small to solicit.

I like the simple quality of the book but find myself wishing that Dan Spiegle had illustrated it, especially with the awkward looking Crawler, Astro Trac and Moon Suit.
