Pat LeBlanc's Mobile Launch Platforms Custom

Pat LeBlanc's Missile Convoy with Custom MLPs
Submitted 2018.02.17 by Pat LeBlanc

I think like most collectors Pat was a little disgusted by the high prices that Mattel's Mobile Launch Platforms demanded (at one point a loose one would often sell over $150 on eBay). So using his ingenuity, here's his take on a custom version.

Pat writes:

Here are some pictures of something I've been working on: the Mobile Launch Platform (not Pad, that might infringe). I've been wanting to try something like this for a while. Mattel was able to make the Mobile Launch Pad in one piece with the detailed treads. I couldn't figure out to do that so I found some treads from a green plastic Army tank. The treads are mounted on a rigid piece of Plexiglas. The upper shell is vacuum-formed from styrene and has holes for the three launchers' foot pads. The outriggers for the Satellite Launcher are made from Plexiglas. I decided to paint it yellow so that it wold contrast with all three launchers (white and gray). It has hitches on the front and rear that are compatible with the Astro Trak and the other MLP's. As soon as I finish the other two (and find a D cell battery) I'll shoot a video of this wagon train.
