Good Housekeeping Family Christmas Issue - 1969 Edition

I've had this for a while and basically forgot about it. This is an issue of Good Housekeeping "Family Christmas Book 1969 Edition" - I'm not sure if it's a regular issue renamed but suspect it's a special publication issued around Christmas - it's full of holiday recipes and gift ideas. On the inside front cover is this two-page ad for Discover House - a Gift company that would offer up "super saver" type deals where you would purchase an item at retail (or near retail) and receive a free item. In this case if you purchased two of the offered Mattel $9.95 items on page one you receive an item on page two for free, Shipping and Handling included. Page one has a Capt. Lazer Firebolt Action Set as an option with a Major Matt Mason in Moon Suit set as one of the FREE Super Saver Specials.

I haven't heard of anyone remembering the purchase of one of these deals so it's difficult to measure how effective the promotion was. Also, I'm very unsure of the packaging - whether it was retail packaging or some generic brown-box packaging. Any further info is welcome.
