This is the Mobile Attack LEM or MALEM.  It is a LEM-variant equipped for military operations on the lunar surface.  The skin is covered with a radar-absorbing coating colored to provide lunar camouflage.  Upon landing, the foot pads and struts are replaced with multi-terrain wheels driven by electric motors.  Electric power is provided by a small nuclear reactor located in the descent stage.  This reactor also powers two front-mounted electromagnetic cannons that fire kinetic weapons for surface engagements.  Two rear-mounted lasers provide offensive capability for orbital targets.  The MALEM can be refurbished as needed between missions.  The ascent stage provides living space and can be used to return to orbit if necessary.
