Mattel Benelux Dealer EOY contest 1969

Mattel Benelux Dealer EOY contest 1969 - Inside
This folder was sent round toy shops in Belgium (and possibly Holland) to encourage more, and more effective, displays of Mattel toys for the end-of-year festivities. Shops were asked to send in photographs of their efforts, with prizes offered for the best display. A paper Mattel logo is included to help identify the toys’ manufacturer. Presumably a version in Dutch will also have been made.

It’s with enthusiasm that you have lent, you too, your competence and dynamism to the success of our end of year action. We are grateful to you and don’t doubt that together we will meet our objective: selling ever more Mattel toys.

The train of your MATTEL sales will move at great speed towards the end of year festivities. The substantial advertising effort that we have accomplished from September will not fail to attract the interest of the public and push it towards purchase. Our toys will be more in demand than ever!

But they will still have to be highlighted in your window and in your store. And, to set the tone, lets organize ourselves between all those who take part in our end of year sales operation.

a great contest
of Mattel presentation

To participate and win the very interesting prizes which we have made available for this competition between retailers, you only need to:

  • set up in your store or window, one or more attractive presentations of the Mattel toys featured in our end of year action and the point of sale material we have put at your disposal.
  • send us images of your presentation (simple amateur photos will suffice) before 15-1-1970 at the following address: EBIEX S.A. / MATTEL BENELUX, 371, chaussée Saint Pierre, Brussels 4.
Who will best show off MATTEL toys  (and so boost their sales), make the best presentation and win the most beautiful prizes?

The authors of the best photos – selected by a jury – will be rewarded by the following following prizes:
  • Silver coffee set and tray
  • Dupont lighter
  • Delvaux travel bag
  • Delvaux correspondence set
  • Samsonite case

The winners will be notified before 31 January 1970.
By taking part the contestant accepts without reservation the decisions of the selecting jury as well as the conditions set forth above.
Forwards for another great MATTEL success and good luck to all.

Intermarco-Publicem

Paul's Notes:

Intermarco Publicem was the Belgian member of the (pan-european) Intermarco group of advertising agencies.

Delvaux in Brussels (they still exist) produce high-class luxury luggage and other wares. They can be compared to (better-known) Louis Vuitton from France.

Samsonite cases were very new and exotic back in 1970.

The Mattel logo is printed in white on matte-red paper. It was cut out with a specially-shaped cutting die, which will have made it a fairly costly thing to produce.

And yes, would I love to have seen the shop displays competing for those prizes. :)
