This knock-off appeared sometime in the 70's. A very obvious ripoff, but cool nonetheless in my opinion, the cake topper was previously thought to be a licensed item. Due to the lack of any Mattel copyrights or markings however, I believe this to be a knock-off of the Mattel photo of MMM from the top of the Flight Card or Insert Catalog.
The back of this hard plastic/styrene item, has "EGC,CINCINATTI OHIO" AND "MADE IN HONG KONG" in raised lettering. The front, raised details are printed with blue or red paint (the paint is applied randomly, so some of these appear almost all blue with touches of red, while others are almost all red with touches of blue). At some point, a small plastic sign with "Galactic Warrior" was applied to the sled base with glue. Many that you see have had this removed (the removal marks are obvious as there's usually some slight damage).
You used to be able to purchase a reproduction of this Cake Topper from Don Thompson of the now defunct Big Red Toybox. Note that on the Big Red Toybox version the back shows the resin pour and is missing the raised lettering present on the original. More pics below, plus a pic from Alec Peters' birthday party, where a special cake was made with a reproduction topper!
