Pat LeBlanc's Soviet LK Lander Custom

Submitted by Pat LeBlanc in 2003

As I recall this was one of Pat's first attempts at vacuforming parts for MMM customs. It's based on the Soviet lander.

Russian manned lunar lander. The LK ('Lunniy korabl' - lunar craft) was the Soviet lunar lander - the Russian counterpart of the American LM Lunar Module. Manned Lunar lander test satellite, Russia. Launched 1970 - 1971.

AKA: 11F94;T2K. Status: Operational 1970. First Launch: 1970-11-24. Last Launch: 1971-08-12. Number: 3 . Thrust: 20.10 kN (4,519 lbf). Gross mass: 5,560 kg (12,250 lb). Unfuelled mass: 3,160 kg (6,960 lb). Specific impulse: 315 s. Height: 5.20 m (17.00 ft). Diameter: 2.25 m (7.38 ft).

Comparison with Pat's LM Custom

I don't have a lot of details around the build - unfortunately Pat was posting to the old Yahoo Groups MMM LISTSRV and all of those images and content are gone (unless saved to individual emails).

NASA Version of the LK for MMM
Pat was kind enough to build one for me only customized as a NASA lander, painted white (Image above). I had intended to take detailed photos of it and write it up but work got in the way and that never happened. In any case, I hope you enjoy these limited images. Someday I'll get mine out and upload better images.
