Mattel #6303 Major MATT MASON with MOON SUIT

Mattel #6303 Major MATT MASON with MOON SUIT Card Front

This super-deluxe figure set included the contents of both the 6300 Major MATT MASON (Flight Set) and 6301 Moon Suit Pak. Along with the Major and helmet, the package held a Jet Propulsion Pak, Space Sled with Control Console and Sticker set. The Moon Suit was accompanied by its bellows and hose, plus the Radiation Detector, a hammer, screwdriver, wrench and sticker.

MMM Astronaut Major MATT MASON

This giant blister is one of the most beautiful when displayed. As with the Moon Suit Pak, the arms of the Moon Suit are rarely intact. Also, due to the size of the card, they are often found with the blister lifting from the edge. This is certainly one of the most difficult figure sets to find in any condition. This particular example features a black-rubber MMM with silver painted cuffs. I believe this carded set was only offered the first two years and was replaced by the Major Matt Mason with Space Power Suit.

John's Notes:

I have a vivid memory of this carded set, as I had seen it in a toy store as a child and requested it for Christmas. When Christmas came around, my parents had mistakenly gotten me the Moon Suit Pak instead of this wonderful set. Crestfallen, my good-natured dad went out the next day and purchased a Matt on Cat Trac to go with the Moon Suit. I remember that the thin, arm-supporting wire punctured one are and prevented it from working properly.
