Can you hear me Major Tom? |
Both Tom Hanks and Matthew Broderick have named MMM as being a favourite childhood toy (Broderick was even presented with a mint Matt figure on the Rosie O'Donnell TV show recently). Tom Hanks also went quite far in the production of a Major Matt Mason movie, moving through several directorial selections before the project was essentially shelved.
Recently, with the popularity of the Barbie movie, there's been some effort to offer other Mattel brands to cinema, including Major Matt Mason. View this CNBC interview with Mattel CEO Ynon Kreiz. He mentions Major Matt Mason at the 6:47 mark
Regarding the Tom Hanks figure shown above, here's a halfway serious suggestion:
Next time you have lunch with either of these gentlemen, be sure to bring a MMM figure and an unerasable marker pen and ask them to sign the figure. Be sure to take pictures of the event or nobody will believe you!
(But: if you see such a figure advertised in Toy Shop by a certain company, then beware! Also, we would claim 10% because it's our idea! ;-)
Erm, just to be clear: there's no such thing as a Tom Hanks MMM figure.
John couldn't resist making this up!
Finally, should anybody reading this have any similar information, additions or corrections, then we would very much appreciate hearing about them.
