Mattel #5450 3-D Game Assortment

From Mattel Toys 1968 January Catalog

Mattel's 3-D Game Assortment featured 4 games that incorporated Vacuform 3-D textures and interesting accessories.

Packaging:

The assortment probably came in a plain cardboard box with Mattel logos and an assortment number printed on either end. - As an existing assortment has not yet materialized, the packaging is unconfirmed and based upon packaging of other display items from the same period. Each game is 19" x 19" x 3" in actual size, so this carton would be sizable.

John's Notes:

The 1968 Toy Fair version of the Catalog has a two-page spread, while the Mattel January 1968 Catalog introducing the games only provided a single page (image above). At 20 lbs and at 19" x 19" x 3" each in size, this was one of the heaviest and largest assortments that Mattel offered for that year. I bet that the reception of the 3-D games during the show was lukewarm, causing Mattel to downplay them. The assortment was only offered for one year.
