Frank's Crater Crawler Custom |
Submitted 2008.01.31 by Frank May
Another non-MMM vehicle I always
thought was a good MMM type was that, along with the Sears Space Mobile. Like
the Space Mobile, it was too small for the Major & crew. Some folks have
modified the Tonka CC to accept MMM figures or modified MMM figures via
amputation to put them in the CC. Like I said, it was just too small for the
Major & crew. Until now............
John's Notes
The Tonka Crater Crawler was this interesting pressed-steel vehicle with a hinge-like joint between the cab and trailer, each sporting a pair of over-sized wheels. The front was painted in metal-flake blue with a clear canopy and seats for two figures - the scale was about half the size of an MMM figure. The trailer was painted white and has "crater crawler" separated by a US flag (similar logo on the front). Here's an example I found in an eBay ad (I'll update with images from my boxed example once I figure out where I have it stored):

You can write Frank about his amazing custom here, but please note that he built the Space Rover for his personal collection, and doesn't intend to offer any for sale.
