Simpsons-Sears Christmas 1969 Catalog

For 1969 Simpsons-Sears really breaks out all the big guns by offering most of the toy line releases from Mattel for that year. The big surprise here is the addition of a bonus offer of what's basically the MAC Canada club kit with any purchase of the Space Station Space Crawler Super Action Set (called "Deluxe Space-Station Set') or the Uni-Tred and Space Bubble (called "Uni-Tred and Space-Bubble Set") in the ad. We see not only a full-page of MMM, but an image of a kid wearing the MAC hat with a shoulder sticker, holding a wallet bearing the I.D. card.

John's Notes: 

I love how Captain Lazer is represented in this ad - the flashes from his chest and obviously photo-retouched eyes. I also like the way the various pieces can be combined for savings. Not the typo of "Doug Davies" and the use of our "Negro space scientist" Jeff Long in the (10) Supernaut Power Limbs - he rarely sees much action in advertising.

The most interesting thing about this ad, though is the MAC Exclusive Bonus Offer - I've seen a few of these sets and wondered about them and their differences from the US MAC club. It may be that unlike in the US one could get these items directly with purchase from Simpsons-Sears, rather than joining the MAC Canada club via mail.
