Hello to all and I am so glad you are here. I feel as though I have come home and it is good.
When I was five, and I remember this because I was in Kindergarten in Indian Hollow, Ohio I prized my Major Matt Mason collection above all else. I would have traded my brother for the Space Station Playset if I had the chance. What I didn't have though the kid whose father owned the golf course up the pike had. Hands down my favorite was the Moon Suit.
So being dirt poor we got a hold of some cardboard boxes and crayons, and made our very own moon suits. We would wander around the golf course and to me the Indian Hollow Country Club was my imaginative and societal moon. I even remember Moon Mission being one of the first books I read. My biggest regret in all of this is I can't remember my playmates name, and I no longer have those toys.
That is slowly changing. I have picked up a few pieces off of eBay, fueled by the bounty offered from many sites regarding the restoration and customization techniques.
Jumping ahead 40 years, golf courses are not so alien, and I work for the company that bought the company that proposed and designed the prototype that my favorite toy was based on.
I have plans to make a 1:1 scale Moonsuit, with embellishments of my own. In order to pull this of I am going to need about 20 gallons of fiberglass resin and bout a gazillion square feet of cloth. I have cardboard boxes in the garage for mold making purposes. I know this sounds nuts.
I look forward to the adventure!
