Original MMM LISTSERV submission from around 2001
Picking up on the age thread:
I'm 41 & grew up in England where the Major began showing up around the end of 1968 when I was about 12. I vaguely remember the crawler commercial being shown on UK TV but MMM wasn't the raging success it was in the US. There were a lot of carded figures/sets available (mostly Matt & Storm), but the boxed, motorized pieces were few & far between, probably because they were so expensive & the UK economy was way below the US at the time.
I began collecting Major Matt again around 1987, back when 'common' figures & accessories were fairly inexpensive (compared to today's eBay pricing). For some reason, very little MMM pieces or Colorform Aliens show up in Canada (where I now live) so most of my collection was acquired South of the Border.
About the only accessory I need to finish up my collection now is the Green Chest Pak/Gun for Scorpio, (Yea, I know; me & a hundred other collectors).
