There were a few items of interest (including a MOC MLP that didn't meet reserve at over $900), and some neat German items (including some carded accessories and a German carded Jeff Long) but the rarest item was this Quaker Oat Meal box (below).

What a rare opportunity. Recently we acquired the privilige of selling new old stock mint and near mint toys from 1948 to 1970. Some of these items will never be uncovered in mint shape again. Many of them are one of a kinds, and a select few are one or 2 extras. As you know, the best opportunity for future collectible increases in value is the minty boxed vintage items. Everything is original and unplayed with.
New Seller to Ebay. Grew up in Auction Family business, but now I am working in Retail Sales. This is an extra project to save up for my College fund and support my 3 year old daughter. These items are going to be things consigned to me from local neighbors and estates. Nothing brand new, but some are never used. I will try to be specific, since I cannot answer emails at work. All of this is part time for us. Only home after work and days off. email questions to bencollector2006@yahoo.com. These items are not mine, so we maintain NO REFUNDS. Insurance issues are between you and the USPS or UPS. Must pay within 14 days or we reserve the right to resell for any reason. We have assistance with shipping which charges a few dollars extra per package for supplies and labor.
My Take:
I'm not sure who the winning bidder is, but he's certainly buying up some rare items (MMM, Batman and Captain Action if you take a look at his feedback history). This item usually sells in the $150-250 range so this prices is way outside the norm. It looks like two people who really wanted it just bid it up to this ridiculous price - that's eBay for you! The under-bidder does look a bit suspicious to me with the private feedback rating - makes me wonder if it was just bid up. One thing that really aided this auction were all the images (even though the quality of the individual images weren't very good the number gives the viewer a really good idea of what's being bid on). The seller description in the ad was really good too and inspires confidence in bidding - kudos to this seller!
QUAKER Instant Oatmeal Box 1970 f/ Major Matt Mason!
eBay Auction #180184215521
Ending Bid: $218.50
End Date: Dec-01-07 12:52:23 PST
Description:
This is a rather odd find!
Up for bid is an Instant Quaker Oatmeal (with Maple & Brown Sugar) box from 1970 (the oatmeal is LONG gone). On the back is a Space Toy Offer for Mattel's Major Matt Mason riding his CAT TRAC. Back then you could get both items for only $1.95 with 2 proof of purchase seals! Unfortunately the offer to get the now very rare and popular Major Matt Mason toys expired on December 31, 1970.
I know this is a rather strange item, but I thought someone might be interested.
Buyer pays $4.00 shipping. Insurance is optional. Thanks for your interest!
I'm really surprised that this item didn't go for more - it's truly a rear MMM item. This is only the third I've ever seen - I bought the second one on eBay earlier this year. Along with the three cereal boxes, you rarely see MMM items that were promoted on food products. With the cereal boxes going in the hundreds of dollars, I would have thought that the exceptional condition of this box would have brought more.
I like how the auction poster seems to be apologetic about the box - what a surprise that it brought so much!
