THIS IS A VERY RARE 1970 MATTEL TALKING MAJOR MATT MASON ASTRONAUT MAN IN SPACE IN ORIGINAL "INNER" SHRINK WRAPPED BOX (NO OUTER BOX)  - OBVIOUSLY, CAN NOT TEST THE VOICE PART SINCE IT IS SEALED, SO CAN NOT GUARANTEE IT'S FUNCTION....SOLD AS PICTURED/DESCRIBED.  SORRY FOR THE FUZZY PICTURES.  BOX AND SCRINK WRAP ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION

My Take: 
This of course is the often missing insert (still minty sealed) from the Mattel #6378 Talking Flying Matt Mason playset. I purchased the same many years ago and filled by second boxed set, nice to complete them when you can. It seems that Mattel would often provide sales of semi-packaged figures to employees at the various corporate locations (thus the white background carded Callisto, Major Matt Mason and Sgt Storm variants that you'll sometimes see in the market). I believe this (based on the 3-4 I've seen sell through the years) is likely the source of this boxed Talking Major Matt Mason too.

Near Mint Condition Figure & Trac Vehicle - Card is near mint and bubble if firmly attached with no separation and no dents. This is a high quality condition example of this toy

My Take: 
These "Tall Card" MMM variant packaged figures are fairly scarce - I can only remember a handful coming up for sale on eBay in all the years I've been paying attention. This example is fantastic, much better than those in my collection.

High quality example of 1969 Mattel's Callisto figure with accessories and is mint on card- slight bends on corners and some minor nicks around edge of card-no creases-Blister if firmly attached with no separation   

 

My Take: 
Very nice example of a first issue tall-boot on the green background showing only a little edge wear - it's been a while since one this nice has been offered on eBay. From the bid history this wasn't two people going after the same item but rather a hole bunch of different bidders.

Major Matt Mason Space Station is in excellent used condition with light age/play wear.       Assembles beautifully as shown in photos.      (See all photos, they are part of the description).      Includes original vintage Mattel parts as originally sold with the SPACE STATION set, including the usually missing Locking Pins, Radar Space Beacon, Space Console Chair and Console Helmet Shelf.     Includes reproduction Space Station Directions.

1966 Mattel Major Matt Mason SPACE STATION includes the following Mattel SPACE STATION parts:

·    Mattel Space Station Box  -  Original Mattel Space Station Box is in used vintage condition with age/storage wear/reinforcement repairs/toning.      Box graphics are clean, bright and vibrant (see photos of all box sides).

Space Station parts:

·    2 large Space Platforms - NO missing tabs.

·    6 Red Space Girders - NO missing tabs.

·    6 Swing-Down Solar Panels (translucent blue) - NO cracks, NO breaks, NO chips.

·    Space Radar Beacon/Light - light WORKS - complete with purple dome and battery cover.

·    3 Space Console Locking Pins. 

·    Space Control Console (Upper - Space Console Roof section) complete, no missing tabs.

·    Space Control Console (Lower - Console table / 3 console legs / 3 ladder stanchions with Film Graphic (original Mattel translucent film), and 'communications dials').  Space Console table is complete (one missing leg tab - see photo) -- includes sink faucet.

My Take: 
I was surprised that this sold (for the opening bid price) which seemed a bit high to me as it has a photocopy of the instructions (otherwise it appears complete with a working beacon and in overall nice condition). The photos are really nice and you basically see what you're getting, which I'm guessing enticed a purchase.
