| Art. 4927 Capitán Meteoro Box Front |
The Mexican release of Major Matt Mason (actually, Sgt Storm) shows a large photo of him standing next to a typical Mattel white cat trac that looks like it's been painted gray. Capitán Meteoro is written in bold letters to one side in yellow with a red drop-shadow. The entire figure is white and appears to have been spray-painted white with brushed-on detailing. On Meteoro's chest, old glory is replaced by a blue rectangle with hand-painted white stars. All currently known production figures have simplified detailing, with only one color applied (red, even the "flag" is red), and lack painted details on their backs. The helmet in the box image appears to be an original Mattel Major Matt Mason helmet.
Packaging:
The box is made of smooth cardboard printed on all sides in
full color. The box measures 6 1/4" tall by 9 3/4" wide by 2" thick. It displays a Mattel copyright of 1967.

Meteoro was packaged with a silver/gray molded Cat Track and a Silver Helmet with pale yellow visor. Besides being molded in white with the red accents, his boots are in a silver/gray that matches the helmet and Cat Trac. Note in the detailed image below that all parts were made from original Mattel molds so the original patent and part number embossing continues with Meteoro and his gear.

John's Notes:
I finally managed to purchase this boxed example of Meteoro and while the box is rough (with all the discolored clear tape), I'm very happy to have this in my possession until I can find a better example. This is only one of about 5 boxes that I'm aware of so extremely rare. Now if I can just find a packaged Atomo my Meteoro collection will be complete.
