Mattel MMM Moon Pictures Offer 1969

Mattel MMM Moon Pictures Offer 1969 - Comic Ad
Coinciding with the first Moon Landing in July 1969, readers of British comic magazines were offered a set of four moon pictures by Major Matt Mason. All that was required was to send in the coupon together with the MMM name cut from any piece of packaging as proof of purchase.

The four moon images arrived with MMM proudly present on the brown paper envelope. They’re finely printed in black and white on single-coated white paper (glossy on one side like a picture postcard) making them look very much like photographic prints. Each image is 8x10” in size (appx 25x20cm) and has a caption to explain what it shows.

Later in September 1969, the same offer was made in comic magazines published in Belgium so youngsters in the Benelux, France and Switzerland could also get these images.

Paul’s notes:

I’ve looked up the address of 61 Merton High Street in London SW19 (that’s Wimbledon) but Streetview shows a newish building that will have replaced Mattel’s previous premises there.
