Pat created his own version of the vinyl moon-surface mat and craters that come with the Sears exclusive Astro-Trac Missile Convoy Set, adding the moon backdrop resized from the Whitman Major Matt Mason Press-out Book.

If anyone is interested, I have one set left. The set includes one banner and three craters for $125 which includes shipping within the continental US.
The banner is 48” wide and 36” tall. The top 18” includes a lunar mountain range with the Earth in the sky. The bottom 18” shows the lunar surface. The banner can be folded to provide a 3-dimensional display. The banner is is printed with fade-resistant UV ink on durable 13 ounce vinyl with hemmed edges.

Three (3) craters are included with the banner. The craters are vacuum-formed styrene and hand painted to match the lunar surface. Each crater is 4” in diameter and 1-1/2” tall.

OK I've got some details from the printer. The banner
would be printed on 13 ounce (per square foot) outdoor vinyl with a
satin finish and hemmed edges. It would be shipped rolled around a 48"
long tube with three (3) vacuum-formed craters inside the tube for
protection.
The cost (including shipping within the continental US) would be $125 each. His minimum production order size is 10.
So far the following have expressed interest: Fred, Michael, Robert, Mark, Robert and Todd. That is 6. Please confirm you are still in at this price,
Are there 4 more in for $125?
Here is a picture of the vacuum-formed craters that will come with each vinyl banner. They will be painted to match the "bluish" surface.

The bottom surface will be 48" wide and 18" deep. The whole banner will be 4 feet wide by 3 feet (tall). The idea is you could have a shelf that is 18" deep and the mountain/skyline would rollup the wall as a backdrop.

The full size will be in color. The black & white is a sheet of 8.5" x 11" paper folded to show what it would look like for display. Interested?

To recap: The 60's style lunar background and surface will be printed on a vinyl banner 4 feet wide and 3 feet tall allowing you to display your Major Matt Mason collection in style. $125 includes three vacuum-formed craters (painted to match the surface) and shipping within the continental US.
The minimum order from the printer is 10 and 8 have expressed interest. I plan to tell the print shop to proceed with 10 copies tomorrow (Wednesday, April 28) morning.

The Astro Trac is "down among 'em" as Gene Cernan might say. Here is the result of a few hours of vacuum-forming and trimming for four sets of craters.

The 4x3 vinyl banners are in! I took some quick pictures to show what they look like with some MMM stuff on them. I will now do some color matching of the blue moonscape so that I can paint the craters. Still waiting to hear from some who expressed interest last week.

Here is a picture showing the main color of the three craters that are included with each vinyl banner. Additional details, similar to the original craters, will be hand painted by my daughter (who is MUCH better at that than I am).

Here is a picture of the "finished" craters (some plain blue ones are shown for comparison). I think my daughter did an excellent job! I am going to spray the finished craters with a couple of coats of lacquer to protect the paint and then should be ready to ship them with the vinyl moonscape banners by mid-week.
The shipping order will be the same as the order that people paid.
