Mini Reconojet Side
|
This is one of those items that was something of a mystery when it first appeared. Very odd that a copy of the Reconjet would be produced in this smaller scale, especially without a figure. The small wheels added to the intrigue, indicated the toy was meant to be rolled around.

Comparison to MMM Accessory

Recently I found a carded example so we know it was produced by "The Toy House" and marketed as "Satellite Searcher." From the card graphic, the Reconojet is supposed to be used more like a surfboard (called a "Laser Mapper" whatever that is/was) for the two chromed figures (appear to be copies of up-scaled Golden Astronauts at around 1:36 scale). Also included is a curious US flag (48 star pattern!) on flagpole, I guess to plant once the Satellite was found.

John's Notes:
The card above was the first I've found in about 16 years - not sure if this is rare or what but interesting just the same. It's an obvious copy of a Mattel toy.
