Amaury Diaz Serrano's "The Rocket" |
I believe "The Rocket" was his attempt to answer the question "How did Major Matt Mason and crew get to the moon?" - Early in the toy line's development Mattel offered the "Spaceship Case" (aka Rocket Ship Case) as a vinyl storage vessel, but Amaury's design takes it to the next level featuring a rocket that's reconfigurable and including both the missing landing struts and an observation bubble atop the capsule.

John's Notes:
I love the custom interior that Amaury added to the that allows for storage for much of that early MMM gear - always thought that was a missed opportunity by Mattel (sure you can store a couple of helmets in the Space Station but where do you put all the other stuff?).
These Images were provided through MMM group posts by Amaury and over the years he tends to rename and repackage his creations a bit - whey it's called "The Rocket" or "Rocket #1" or "Custom Spaceship" depending on when he created the graphic.
You can reach Amaury Diaz Serrano on Facebook, he's also an active member of the MAJOR MATT MASON Facebook group.
Should anybody reading this have any similar information, additions or corrections, then we would very much appreciate hearing about them.
