Gamble-Aldens 1969 Christmas Catalog Cover |
Gambles-Skogmo started in Minnesota as an Auto Supply store and expanded regionally into new markets and products with several divisions. Gambles acquired the Chicago-based Aldens (at one time the 4th largest mail-order distributor) in 1964 to merge into a single company - but depending on location there are "Aldens" catalogs, "Gambles" catalogs and "Gamble-Aldens" catalogs - to make things even more confusing, some of the catalogs will have the original "Gambles" logo on the front cover then have "Gamble-Aldens" on the back. In any case, I'm putting them all here.
Gambles 1967 Thrifty Santas Shop at Gambles Catalog
This catalog ad was originally submitted by Ray Kolasa who writes: "I was fortunate enough to recently acquire a few old toy catalogs from the late 60's. One, a Gambles Christmas circular from 1967, had this cool page of Matt stuff. Sorry about the relatively large file size, but I haven't yet mastered Photoshop. Still, I think you'll find it worth the download." You can find Ray on Facebook.
